Books really start getting fun around fourth grade! That was the year I really remember getting into reading. My favorite book that year was Charlotte’s Web–I read it twice! I remember reading Freckle Juice, too, (which hasn’t been made into a movie yet,) and I know there were many others.
ONE THING you’ll notice which is different about this list: the “read-aloud” section is gone. Read-alouds are still good! Read to your kids until they move out of the house. =) Just pick one. Any of the books on this list will do. You can also take turns reading the book to each other now. Or you can always choose a book off a higher grade list to read to them. Whatever you do, don’t stop reading to your kids!

Make Memories With Your Kids
On this list, I’ve only read Charlotte’s Web and How to Train Your Dragon. I know, you probably look through this list and think, “YOU HAVEN’T READ ANY OF THE OTHERS?” *shrugging* What can I say? I did read a lot, just not these.
But I will tell you this (no spoilers:) How to Train Your Dragon is almost NOTHING like the movie. And somehow, my kids and I like it. . . and we like the movie, too. It’s almost like they are so different that we can like them each as separate stories. Read this one with your kids, and have fun with the voices–they’ll enjoy it!!
My girls have also read Sarah, Plain and Tall, but none of the others. However, we’ll be fixing that soon, as several of these are now on our reading list! The kids have loved the movie “Nim’s Island” for years, and we had no idea it was based on a book. We definitely need to read that one. =)

I LOVE Spiderwick Chronicles. The books are awesome, and there’s a follow on series. They’re a super quick read, each book is relatively short. My kids like it because there’s twin boys and a girl (like my family, only the girl is the oldest in the books).
