I have the back-to-school supply sale twitches.

Oh, the crayons, the glue sticks, the markers, the colorful notebooks. *swoon*

There’s just one problem: I don’t NEED any of that stuff! We still have plenty of crayons, color pencils, markers and folders.

We’re full up.

I also find we don’t need things like glue sticks anymore. My kids are growing up!

So I pass by the aisles with a lingering glance, sniffing and inhaling the aroma of new paper and fresh crayons.

I may have a problem.

However, there are a few things we always need–will always need. There are things that quite often “go missing” even though we must have more than a handful hiding in the house somewhere. I had a Light Bulb Moment one year when I ordered a bulk box of dry erase markers, one of our frequently MIA items.

Now there are a handful of items I buy in bulk at the beginning of the year. Let no school lesson be delayed for lack of a pencil or an eraser! 😉

It’s not quite the same as back to school supply shopping. But it will have to do.

Pencils.

Why is it that we regularly buy new pencils but I rarely, if ever, see them sharpened down to tiny nubs and completely used up. WHERE do all those pencils GO?

Mechanical Pencils.

Some kids prefer to use mechanical pencils. In theory, these should last longer than regular pencils since they are reusable, right?  ALAS, these seem to magically disappear at a steady rate as well.

Pencil Lead.

Because mechanical pencils are useless without lead refills or if you can’t find the little case of refill lead at the moment…

Erasers.

I suspect some of our pencils disappear after they have run out of eraser. I have no proof of this. (Never mind that I do have a small stash of pencil top erasers.) “No eraser?” No more excuses. =)

The dry erase markers.

Oh yes, these are still on the list. The mom should always have plenty of dry erase markers (or the white board is just a very boring wall decoration.)

So that’s my homeschool supplies list of “Things that disappear that we need to stock up on.”

I would also add scissors, but I already bought three pairs of scissors and added them to our stash. We go through too much paper and I have a hard time trying to keep up with the tape as well. What would you add??

Hey, y’all! I’m Amber and I wear many hats. I drink a ton of coffee and I’m constantly sweeping crumbs off the floor. After 18 years of homeschooling, I’m getting close to graduating my third child and now we are starting over at preschool with our fourth, Lil Miss Mouse. She keeps us young and she’s the main reason for my excessive coffee consumption. Drink up!
