I wanted three girls.

highness1I’m just being honest. When I found out I was pregnant with our third child, I was hoping for another daughter because it would be easier… we already have the girl clothes, the girl toys and the girl know how. And besides, I LIKE girls. All froofy and pretty and sweet.

And along came our boy.

Oh, he’s sweet. He is. He loves his momma and he gives sweet kisses, and even though he’s three he still asks for a lullaby before he can go to sleep. But just one. Because he’s bigger. But he’s definitely… ALL. BOY.

Of course that’s a good thing, seeing as how he is a boy. But life with a little boy thus far has done little to prepare me for this phase we’re entering now. Let me sum up:

The girls didn’t draw anatomically correct pictures.

Yes, my son, my sweet son, has recently added a new addition to the stick people he has been drawing for the past year. They are now complete with… a “HIGHNESS.” {Or probably a “hinis,” a blend of hiney, and well, you know. But I like to think it’s “highness.” It cracks me up. Because it’s just so,…well, you know.}

So the other night when Little Prince and Big Daddy were drawing pictures and the little guy started adding Highnessess to his people?? Me = covering my face with my hands and thinking, “He carries that notebook EVERYWHERE.” Imagine if he TOOK IT TO CHURCH?! Imagine if he drew a person for his Sunday School teacher??

Oh the future embarrassment!

I thought about posting an “anatomically correct” picture, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it.

I am not the “cool cucumber” mom. Maybe slightly chilled, but pretty much – NO. We taught our kids the “correct” words to say but I’m not sure why because most of the time I’m uncomfortable with them saying them. Probably mostly because they lack in the discretion department. Those funny stories about moms in public bathrooms having embarrassing conversations with their toddlers? That’s me. And I am sooo not prepared for this!

And then I think.. he’s only three!! We still haven’t hit the age of arm pit farts and body function noises!

I am so in trouble.

Hey, y’all! I’m Amber and I wear many hats. I drink a ton of coffee and I’m constantly sweeping crumbs off the floor. After 18 years of homeschooling, I’m getting close to graduating my third child and now we are starting over at preschool with our fourth, Lil Miss Mouse. She keeps us young and she’s the main reason for my excessive coffee consumption. Drink up!
