I’ll be honest, I’m having a hard time being happy for our new president.

Soon-to-be president Obama and I disagree on a lot of things that are very important to me: abortion, marriage, home-schooling, health care.. and these are just the most important ones. I disagree with about 97% of his platform agenda.

And in many ways, it scares me. Will he take a stance on homeschooling while he is President? What changes will he try to make?

Yet, biblically, it is the right thing to do to pray for, encourage and support our President, speaking truth in love – same way I should treat every other human being on the face of this planet.

On the other hand, I was nervous already, regardless of who one the election (just moreso with Obama winning.) We need somebody is going to turn the economy around, make a positive impact and change where we’re headed. Neither candidate ever made any stataments that made me feel completely confident and assured of their abilities to handle this situation. So to be fair, I’d still be nervous even if McCain had won.

As far as economy goes, my worst case scenario is this: Economy continues to plunge, unemployment continues to rise, business for my husband’s self-owned computer consulting company drops and can’t support us, but my husband can’t find a job in the still over-saturated computer industry with the high unemployment rates. We would be dead in the water. And it’s a real possibility if our new president doesn’t begin turning things around, fast.

I found this powerful and important reminder, though, in a comment that Robin left on Heather’s post, “A House Divided“:

I’m hopeful; not because of any man, but because my hope is secure and eternal.

How true! I really needed to hear that yesterday.

Regardless of what happens here on earth, I have a hope that transcends all these things.

Regardless of what I have to do without, I have Jesus.

Strength and dignity are her clothing,
And she smiles at the future. Proverbs 31:25

Hey, y’all! I’m Amber and I wear many hats. I drink a ton of coffee and I’m constantly sweeping crumbs off the floor. After 18 years of homeschooling, I’m getting close to graduating my third child and now we are starting over at preschool with our fourth, Lil Miss Mouse. She keeps us young and she’s the main reason for my excessive coffee consumption. Drink up!
