Mystery Photo: Professional Spice

Welcome, new visitor! Come on in. The Classic Housewife is currently undergoing some back end changes. In the meantime I'm re-posting some oldies and goodies. You may also want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

mysteryphoto-professionalspiceThis week’s mystery photo clue is “professional spice.” Can you guess it? It’s just for fun, so feel free to go ahead and leave your guesses in the comments. {Just guess first and THEN look at the comments – otherwise it’s no fun!) ; )

I’ll give a hat tip to the first person to correctly guess, when I reveal the answer tomorrow!

His Highness

I wanted three girls.

highness1I’m just being honest. When I found out I was pregnant with our third child, I was hoping for another daughter because it would be easier… we already have the girl clothes, the girl toys and the girl know how. And besides, I LIKE girls. All froofy and pretty and sweet.

And along came our boy.

Oh, he’s sweet. He is. He loves his momma and he gives sweet kisses, and even though he’s three he still asks for a lullaby before he can go to sleep. But just one. Because he’s bigger. But he’s definitely… ALL. BOY.

Of course that’s a good thing, seeing as how he is a boy. But life with a little boy thus far has done little to prepare me for this phase we’re entering now. Let me sum up:

The girls didn’t draw anatomically correct pictures.

Yes, my son, my sweet son, has recently added a new addition to the stick people he has been drawing for the past year. They are now complete with… a “HIGHNESS.” {Or probably a “hinis,” a blend of hiney, and well, you know. But I like to think it’s “highness.” It cracks me up. Because it’s just so,…well, you know.}

So the other night when Little Prince and Big Daddy were drawing pictures and the little guy started adding Highnessess to his people?? Me = covering my face with my hands and thinking, “He carries that notebook EVERYWHERE.” Imagine if he TOOK IT TO CHURCH?! Imagine if he drew a person for his Sunday School teacher??

Oh the future embarrassment!

I thought about posting an “anatomically correct” picture, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it.

I am not the “cool cucumber” mom. Maybe slightly chilled, but pretty much – NO. We taught our kids the “correct” words to say but I’m not sure why because most of the time I’m uncomfortable with them saying them. Probably mostly because they lack in the discretion department. Those funny stories about moms in public bathrooms having embarrassing conversations with their toddlers? That’s me. And I am sooo not prepared for this!

And then I think.. he’s only three!! We still haven’t hit the age of arm pit farts and body function noises!

I am so in trouble.

Mystery Photo – Oliver Twist

For just a bit of random fun, can you guess this mystery object?

mysteryphoto1

Your clue is “Oliver Twist.” Can you guess it?

{Did I make it too easy? I hope it’s not TOO easy… There’s no prize, it’s just for fun, so feel free to leave your guesses in the comments. Just think about it and take your guess before you look at what everyone else says. =P Tomorrow I’ll give props to the first person that guesses it correctly.}

Note the wet cuffs from wading in the river. Carrying back two shoes and two socks proved quite the challenge.

Tackling my GINORMOUS Blog Makeover

I HAVE been called crazy in the past.

Several weeks ago I decided to set about the task of restructuring my blog, to make it more like what I’d originally wanted but didn’t know how to do at the time.

BELIEVE ME. It would have been so much easier to do it THEN.

I have spent the last few weeks creating six separate “underblogs” (my favorite way to explain it), seven if you count the front page, transferring all my content over, changing all it’s identifying identifiers, deleting the content that didn’t need to STAY on that underblog and designing it all and making it all work together.

You may call me crazy now. I won’t be offended.

It’s not something a normal person would do. Not to mention all the impact it will have on SEO and whatnot. But I threw all caution to the wind anyhow and I did what I wanted to do!!

So now I have a whole new structure, a whole new look and a whole new plan. And I LIKE it!! =)

chmw-new

I still have a few things to do (I want to move the nav to below the header, I need a featured content section on the front page) but I need my hubby’s help for those things.

I’m sure there are some things that need a little tweaking and I’m going to be running around looking for links that don’t work and whatnot – but by all means if you see something that doesn’t work, email me or leave me a comment. I won’t mind!

A couple of important things to note:

  • You’ll have to resubscribe to Classic Housewife! But you can subscribe to each individual underblog as you want or you can subscribe to the whole thing on the front page.
  • I’ve added some new things and done away with some old things. The graphics section is bye-bye – sorry y’all. There are a couple of reasons behind that, one being not having photoshop anymore and another being a time issue. Also I have a reviews section now and that’ll start filling up with reviews waiting to be written soon.

So that was this week’s month’s tackle. Now on to more housework type tackles!!

Tackle It Tuesday is hosted by 5 Minutes for Mom.
