Q: There’s not a field trip in my area – what do I do?

A: If there isn’t already a field trip in your area and you’d like to start one, that’s great! All you need to do is write a post and send me an email with a link to your post and the city/state that your field trip will be in. I’ll add you to the list of hosts and link to your blog post.

Q: What kind of field trip should I do?

A: I originally envisioned everyone taking trips to their local zoos. That may not be feasible for everyone. If not a zoo, maybe something like a zoo? Ideally the field trip would take place somewhere at least moderately educational, lots of fun, and in a setting that allows people to talk to each other while field tripping.

Q: Which day do we go, does it have to be the same day?

A: April 27th. Ideally, yes, we’d all go on the same day.

Q: What should I put in my post?

A: Location, meeting time, a place to meet, a starting time (to allow time for people to arrive before leaving the meeting place), anything necessary to bring and an end time (if any) should all be included in your post. Q: How do I get the button?

Q: Can homeschoolers who don’t blog attend the field trip?

A: I’ll leave that up to each individual host. In some areas with few blogging homeschoolers, you may want to open the event to all homeschoolers. It’s up to you.

Q: How do people RSVP on my post?

A. You can either use a linky service of your choice, or you can ask people to RSVP in comments. You might also choose to manually enter a list at the bottom of your post with the names/blogs of those who say they’d like to attend.

Q: Will there be a follow up post?

A: Yes. The Monday after the Big Field Trip, I will post a follow up post and invite others to leave links for their follow up posts. I’d like all the hosts to do the same for their area field trips. I will link to each of the hosts follow up posts as well.

Q: What about privacy?

A: It’s common courtesy not to post pictures of other people’s children or disclose other bloggers’ exact location without their permission. I’ll be reminding everyone about that in an upcoming post, and at least a couple of times between now and the follow up post. However, all we can do is ask others to respect that.

Q: Will you do this again next year?

A: If this goes well, probably. =)
