My son did that on our new laminated world map. We had been writing where our family members lived with dry erase markers (that I kept on top of fridge). One Saturday morning he decided to add new people, and decorate the oceans with the only "special" marker he could find. Yes, a sharpie from a "child proofed," latched drawer that he fished his arm around in because he had seen me put markers in there before. I was pretty mad, but my husband knew this trick somehow already. now Sharpies live on top of fridge, too!

Great tip! I tried that when MY 3 yr old did that & it worked on everything but the HIGHLIGHTER. So, we ended up with a new marker board.
