Of course, being a pilot, I was interested in the plane crash. As with any aviation accident, you can read about it on ntsb:

Apparently, there was a problem with the engine, but they went ahead and tried to take off anyway. It may have been a misprint, but the guy the blog says was the husband’s flight instructor was listed in the accident report as a “commercial pilot,” which is a lower rating than a CFI, or flight instructor.
