Approaching the holidays, it’s easy to slip out of contentment and into discontent when we see the advertisements telling us what we need and what we should have, displaying all the sparklies and the pretties and the “Oh neats!”
I’m guilty of giving in to these thoughts on occasion. OOh, I’d like this and this and THIS for Christmas this year!” The list grows so long that suddenly, I’m thinking about all the thing I don’t have, have to do without and can’t get.
Truth is, if I could be content without those things before Christmas, I can be content…without those things.
Maybe some of them are even on the “need” list and not the “want” list. But we’ll get to the needs as we get to them. In the mean time, I can thank God for everything I DO have, so that I’m not complaining about what I DON’T.
I have an awful lot to be thankful for!

Loved your TT post! So many times we get caught up on the things that we think we need or what we want and forget to look at all the things that God has already blessed us with. I have never gone hungry, or been cold or been without shelter…how can I want more when some don’t even have these basic things. Thanks for sharing today.
